Lectures have been the most popular teaching method in higher education for hundreds of years. Although they have many advantages, they also have plenty of disadvantages. Interactive lecturing is generally defined as a method in which lectures are repeatedly paused and enhanced with pedagogical elements such as active learning methods, collaborative learning, and formative assessment, without losing the lecture as the primary tool for conveying content. The aim is to give students the opportunity to engage with the material and to promote learning as a dialogical experience.
By completing this course, participants will be able to explain not only the benefits of interactive lecturing, but also how to apply these methods to their own lectures as well as their own teaching practices.
