Several student societies and working groups have already been established at the University that have made sustainability one of their declared main fields of activity. You are very welcome to join these initiatives!
The student society Hochschulgruppe Nachhaltigkeit aims to disseminate interdisciplinary knowledge and ideas for the future and to implement them at the University. In doing so, they wish to motivate and guide students and staff to integrate sustainability into their everyday lives. To this end, the student society plans initiatives, such as the Sustainable Weeks, which take place every summer semester and include several events, as well as individual events on sustainability-related topics interspersed throughout the year, such as a lecture on textile seals. Furthermore, the student society organises events that inspire people to live more sustainably, such as through upcycling or biscuit-baking workshops. The student society can also be seen regularly on campus with information stands or poster exhibitions.Hochschulgruppe Nachhaltigkeit is also in constant contact with the Student Services Association (Studentenwerk) and the University's administrative divisions in order to make the campus more sustainable. For example, they have already ensured that the University uses recycled paper for its administrative processes. The society has been active on its social media channels, particularly during the covid-19 pandemic, where it showcased the UN SDGs among other things.

The GHG has already achieved a lot in university politics, such as establishing more vegan meal options in the refectory. In addition, the members have launched Projekt Essbarer Campus [German content] (the "Edible Campus" project) and, in the course of this, planted berry bushes on the FIM lawn so that everyone can help themselves to some berries if they wish. After that, two raised beds and several seating areas followed.
