Oskar-Karl-Forster scholarship

We are currently accepting applications!

The University of Passau offers the Oskar Karl Forster Scholarship from the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts to support talented and needy students and doctoral candidates at the University of Passau.

Eligible to apply:

  • Students (from the 2nd semester)
  • Doctoral candidates

A one-off grant is awarded in the amount of:

  • max. 500 €

The following may be purchased:

  • Books (within the scope of the degree programme)
  • Other learning materials (including technical devices such as laptops and tablets, which are essential in today's digital learning environment)

Alternatively:

  • Aid for printing costs of dissertations

→ No aid may be granted for other purposes in accordance with the BAföG

Students can receive grants if...

  • they are studying at least in the 2nd semester and receive benefits according to BAföG
  • the current net monthly income of the dependants is not higher than twice the BAföG allowance

Doctoral students can receive grants if...

  • they do not earn a higher current income than the basic amount of the graduate scholarship according to the Bavarian Elite Funding Act plus a lump sum free of charge, thus totalling € 1,800.00

You are not entitled to funding if...

  • you have already received a study grant from the Oskar Karl Forster Scholarship Fund.
  • you do not fulfil any of the above requirements.

The scholarship notification only applies to books and learning materials that are submitted with the approved book list.

Purchases must be documented by receipted invoices after the decision has been issued:

  • must show the date of acquisition
  • the title of the work in accordance with the listReceipts are only valid from the date of application.

cannot be claimed:

  • previously submitted receipts or
  • the purchase of learning materials not on the approved book list

Talent

Proof required by means of the list of books/learning materials to be submitted

  • Eligibility for funding: Emphasis of the applicant's previous academic achievements by a university teacher
  • Appropriateness of the planned purchase: endorsement by a university lecturer

Neediness

→ Students

  • in receipt of BAföG:
    Income must not exceed the BAföG funding rates
  • No receipt of BAföG:
    Proof of the income of the debtor must be provided by submitting the last income tax assessment notice

→ Doctoral students

Income limit € 1,800.00 per month
