Your path to a successful career start

Would you like to gain work experience during your studies and prepare yourself optimally for a career in Germany? Then be sure to use the career orientation programme of the iStudi Pass and the various services offered by the iStudi Coach.
In this pass, you will log your participation in six training measures from at least five of the following modules:

  • A. Job seeking and applications
  • B. Company networking
  • C. Intercultural skills
  • D. German language skills
  • E. Degree success
  • F. Volunteering

It is mandatory to participate in training measures for modules A to D. For your fifth training measure, you can choose between modules E and F. Finally, for the sixth one, you can choose between all six modules. We recommend to complete the programme within two semesters which is an average time investment of 15 to 30 minutes per semester week.

Upon completion of the programme you will receive a certificate of attendance, which you may, for instance, enclose with your application documents. The iStudi Pass Programme is open to international students of all faculties and participation is entirely voluntary.

„Intercultural communication and academic training for international students: The Online Self-Learning Course”

What is considered appropriate in communication varies from cultural area to cultural area. This becomes evident in differences such as handshakes or bows, acceptable speaking volume and distance to the interlocutor, or the choice of words in a newspaper report. The same applies to communication in science and in the academic field.

This course aims to help international students to settle into the academic, linguistic and cultural environment in Passau by raising awareness of the cultural character of communication and by learning techniques, practices and customs that are common at German universities.

The course is designed in an asynchronous learning format and features the following modules:

  • Module 1: Cultural Orientation
  • Module 2: Orientation at the University of Passau
  • Module 3: Every day student life
  • Module 4: Dealing with literature
  • Module 5: Writing a term paper

After completion the course can be credited for Module C or E in the iStudi Pass Programme.

How can I get in touch with my fellow students? What can I do to meet people from Passau? A good social network can help you with a variety of issues, as for example day-to-day problems. They also can be very helpful when it comes to looking for a job or an internship. A good way to build such a social network and gain useful skills at the same time is volunteering.
