Erasmus+ funding for language courses

What can be funded?

Within the framework of Erasmus+, fee-based language courses can be funded in advance of an Erasmus+ study visit. The language course must be completed at a university or an official institution (in Germany or abroad) and comprise at least 25 lessons. Upon presentation of the certificate and the original invoice, expenses of up to 500 euros can be reimbursed. If an preparatorylanguage course is not possible, a fee-based language course that takes place during the course of study can also be funded.

In principle, only the actual costs incurred for the language course itself can be funded. Travel costs incurred in connection with the language course (in addition to travelling costs to the place of study abroad) must be borne by the sponsored person. Expenses for tuition fees, visa costs, vaccinations etc. cannot be covered. Expenses for health and travel insurance must also be borne by the sponsored person.

How do I apply for funding?

The application for financial support for language courses within the framework of Erasmus+ must be submitted to the International Office by e-mail to auslandsstudium@uni-passau.de at least 6 weeks before the start of the language course.
