Sustainable development is essential for humanity's survival in the face of a growing population on earth and steadily increasing resource consumption per person. With the focus topic
sustainability as one of three thematic focal points, the University of Passau is taking up this challenge. Accordingly, the University promotes research in the field of sustainability. With the Research Forum in the Sustainability Hub, the University of Passau is establishing a structure to promote interdisciplinary research, and with Bioeconomy Economics, a research group that will make scientific contributions to the transition to a bioeconomy.
In recent years, Europe's responsibility to respond to global challenges with appropriate strategies has increasingly prompted researchers at the University of Passau to make development issues a matter of academic enquiry. One result of this interdisciplinary engagement is the University's focus on "Migration, Sustainable Development and Just Order".
Below is a selection of ongoing research projects at the University of Passau.
The Sustainability Hub at the University of Passau supports research activities related to sustainability at the university and the exchange of information on relevant national and international research programmes. In particular, the promotion of young researchers is a declared goal. Further information on the research forum can be found here.
