Researchers from Passau, Lyon and Milan have established a virtual institute and present their results on the jointly-maintained online portal IRIXYS.org. Their research focuses on Big Data and data security.
IRIXYS - the acronym stands for International Research and Innovation Centre in Intelligent Digital Systems - consists of the three partner universities Passau, Milan and Institut National de Sciences Appliquées (INSA) Lyon. Its researchers examine issues of Big Data and data security; in particular, they are engaged in applied research and knowledge transfer, but will also undertake basic research in the field of Big Data analysis.
The three universities have launched a common online portal: On IRIXYS.org they present the results of the joint research and projects. The website will also provide information on the existing double degree programmes and the doctoral college of the Universities Lyon, Milan and Passau.
Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts granted initial aid
At the University of Passau, the partnership is managed by the Chair of Distributed Information Systems under the direction of Professor Harald Kosch. The researchers from Passau also maintain the IRIXYS website. The virtual centre co-operates with relevant institutions and companies throughout the world. The project receives an initial funding line from the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts for the first two years.
Update regarding the funding period: the Bavarian State Ministry has extended the funding until 31/12/2018.
