The THE Rankings are among the most influential worldwide university tables, which only include excellent universities. The data collected for the purpose of the rankings are aligned along the dimensions of research, teaching and knowledge transfer. While some of the data are provided by the participating universities themselves, others – such as research, which is measured on published articles – are collected by THE via specialised databases. Besides the World University Rankings, subject rankings are carried out annually for individual academic disciplines.
‘We are very pleased that we were able to maintain our position in the THE ranking, even though the number of applicants has more than doubled. This is a wonderful result, and mainly due to the outstanding research publication output of the scientists at our faculty’, said the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics, Professor Michael Granitzer.
The President of the University of Passau, Professor Carola Jungwirth, said: ‘The University is focuses its research and teaching on three guiding themes, and consistently pursues its vision, to become one of the leading European centres of basic research on the societal implications of digitalisation by 2028. This result confirms that the path we have chosen is the right one, even in the longer term. The Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics has proven its competitive strength in the international arena for the second time in a row – and I am thrilled at this great success.’
