ESSA* Conference 09. – 11.10.2024
(*Development Section of the German Sociological Association)
"‘Development’
Alternatives of Envisioning Futures in Academia, Activism and Development Cooperation"
In the context of geopolitical rearmament, climate change and environmental degradation, and overall alarmingly growing global social inequalities, academia, activism and international development cooperation search for alternatives and for new meaningful ways of collaboration. We discuss what a predominantly sociological lens can contribute to the envisioning of futures and to socio-ecological transformation and critically engage with the epistemological and methodological frameworks and tools with which we operate in our work. Furthermore, how can academic knowledge be meaningfully co-produced in transdisciplinary collaborations with activism and development praxis?
The Chair of Critical Development Studies - Southeast Asia cordially invites you to join the two KEYNOTE talks presented in the context of our annual ESSA conference:
** Wednesday, 09.10.24 at 6pm, in HK 14b, 4th floor, room 416**
Dr. Jonathan Ngeh (University of Cologne) will kick-off the conference with his keynote talk on “Ethics of Collaboration and Knowledge Co-Production in a global North-South Context” at the case of Cameroonian-German research cooperation. This keynote will be followed by a reception. Feel invited!
**Friday morning, 11.10.24 at 8.45 am, in HK 14b, 4th floor, room 416**
