University of Passau offers courses to refugees and asylum seekers
Exploring the campus, learning German, trying out individual courses or planning how to continue their education: this winter semester, the University offers refugees and asylum seekers numerous possibilities to lay the foundations or continue their education – and to find the right contacts. The 'Welcome to our Campus' leaflet, which is written in English and German, is available at a number of service points and facilities in Passau, and can be downloaded online.
The initiative is under the auspices of Vice President Ursula Reutner.
'The University has always stood for an organisational culture in which an openness to the world is a matter of course and the integration of international students an overarching aim,' said the Vice President for International Relations, Professor Ursula Reutner, under whose auspices the courses are offered. 'In offering these courses to refugees and asylum seekers, the University, academics and students wish to send out a signal that all are welcome. The student committees and the Academic Advice Service will provide guidance, while professors and lecturers open a range of suitable courses to refugees and the Protestant Students' Community (ESG) organises free German language courses. A big "thank you" goes out to all who have worked so hard to make this work and to everyone who has assisted us along the way.'
