The School offers three master's degree programmes, which are research-led and taught, for the most part, in English: M.Sc. Business Administration, M.Sc. International Economics and Business and M.Sc. Information Systems. All three were evaluated in the new CHE ranking. In addition to the general study situation and support given during studies, the aspects evaluated include the range of courses offered, digital teaching elements, organisation of studies, transition to the master's programmes, supervision by lecturers as well as research and practical orientation.
All three master's programmes of the School of Business, Economics and Information Systems are in the top group nationwide in all of these categories. In addition to student evaluations, other aspects of university performance are also analysed. The School's master's degree programmes also perform very well here. In the category "Degrees in a reasonable time", they are among the best degree programmes in Germany.
The School of Business, Economics and Information Systems's bachelor's degree programmes had already achieved excellent results in the spring CHE ranking. "The new results for our School's master's degree programmes underline the high quality of the business and economics education at the University of Passau", said the Dean of the School, Professor Stefan Bauernschuster. Dean of Studies, Professor Sebastian Krautheim, was also delighted: "One of the hallmarks of our School is its combination of excellent teaching in a wide range of subjects and its closeness to our students. These results are a wonderful acknowledgement of our work these past years, but also an incentive for our School to continue offering our students an excellent, science-based and practical education in the future."
The ranking includes students' assessments of the study conditions at their university as well as facts about studying, teaching and research. There are more than 10,000 master's degree programmes on offer in Germany. The CHE Master's Ranking is intended to provide bachelor's graduates with a guide to the large number of master's programmes available. More than 11,000 master's students nationwide took part in the survey.
A selection of the ranking results for business studies will be published in the ZEIT Campus magazine on Tuesday, 21 November 2023. The results for all other subjects will be presented in issue 2/24, which is scheduled for publication on 8 February 2024.
