11,477 students in summer semester 2017
As of 24 April, 11,477 students are enrolled at the University of Passau, 807 of whom are new students in their first semester of studies. The number of students thus remains stable compared to the previous semesters. Both the share of international students as well as master’s students has further increased.
1,117 of Passau’s students have a foreign passport, thereby increasing the share of internationals relative to the total number of students to 9.7% (summer semester 2016: 8.2%). Also, with 1,859 students, the number of master’s students has risen by 10% compared to last April. The share of male students has risen slightly to 39.8%.
‘We are delighted to have attracted excellent students to our University’, said President Carola Jungwirth. This semester, the bachelor’s programmes in Media and Communication as well as Computer Science have been especially popular among new students. At the request of the Bavarian State Government, the University plans to increase the number of students studying to become teachers especially for primary and middle school by the upcoming winter semester.
The above figures are preliminary as of the beginning of the semester. Please visit the Facts and Figures page for further details.
