Isabelle Abels
Isabelle Abels is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Geography: Environment, Culture, and Tourism, with a special focus on management and marketing as well as cultural area studies in the Anglophone region. She completed her Bachelor's degree (BA) at the Management Center in Innsbruck in the field of Entrepreneurship, Tourism and Leisure Management.
The decision to study for a Master's degree in Geography was aimed at supplementing existing skills in the areas of business management and Alpine tourism with in-depth geographical knowledge. By broadening her professional spectrum, she aims to gain a differentiated perspective on the multi-layered structures of the tourism industry.
As a research assistant in the research group “Bioeconomy Economics”, she is currently working on the project “WATERWISE: Co-designing sustainable management solutions for resilient Alpine headwaters” in collaboration with Leon Bögel. She is highly motivated to collect data and organize workshops with stakeholders to develop solutions for communities and protected area managers to assess the vulnerability of watersheds and develop sustainable management and adaptation strategies.
Her aim is to synergistically contribute her in-depth knowledge of Alpine tourism and her interdisciplinary skills in the fields of geography and research methodology. Through this combination of expertise, she aims to make a substantial contribution to the further development and success of the project. In addition, she will use the data collected during the project as the basis for her Master's thesis.
