National Mosque
The Ghana National Mosque in Accra was inaugurated in 2021 after almost 10 years of construction. It is the second largest mosque in West Africa and was financed by the Turkish government. The mosque functions as a place of prayer, gathering and exchange for the large Muslim community. It represents the religious diversity in Ghana and has its own library and school. It is located in the vicinity of the `Zongo` Nema, a (mainly) Muslim community, which has been an important area of destination for many migrants from the northern parts of Ghana for many decades.
