Students of the University of Passau can register free of charge for almost all seminars and courses organised by Zukunft: Karriere und Kompetenzen (ZKK). Because the seminars and courses are financed by study grant funds, there are a few rules that you should observe.
For a few seminars and courses, there is a fee to cover expenses.
Registration for seminars and IT courses is only possible via Stud.IP. Registration is compulsory for all ZKK seminars and courses. Anyone who attends an event requiring registration without registering cannot be admitted and will not receive a certificate of attendance.
Places are allocated in the order in which registrations are received. You can find the registration start date for the respective semester on the website.
You can attend up to four seminars and up to three IT courses per semester.
Some offers are reserved for specific target groups, e.g. seminars for specific degree programmes, and will be offered to these target groups first. Remaining places can be filled by students from all subject areas. Certain conditions apply to some seminars and courses. If you do not fulfil these requirements, you will not be able to take part in the event.
All seminars and courses are subject to a minimum number of participants (8 people). If this number is not reached, the event will be cancelled. In this case, you will receive a message from us via Stud.IP.
People on the waiting list can be added to the event up to one week before the start of the event. On average, 30 percent of the seminar participants cancel their registration up to one week before the course commences. So keep the date free.
If you are no longer interested in the seminar or no longer have time on the planned date, please remove your name from the waiting list. This allows others who are interested to participate. You will be informed automatically via Stud.IP when you are added to the seminar.
For cancellations in the week leading up to the start of the course, everybody on the waiting list will be contacted via Stud.IP. Whoever responds first will be directly added to the seminar.
If you not have been allocated a place in this process, you still have the option of going to the event having the chance to register on site if a registered participant does not show up!
You can withdraw from a seminar on Stud.IP up to one week before the start of the course. Even if you are only on the waiting list but know that you can no longer participate please remove yourself. This prevents you from unintentionally being added to the seminar and may allow others who are interested to participate.
Once this time limit has expired, your registration becomes final. Cancellation is only possible in exceptional cases: in the event of illness (on presentation of a medical certificate) or with comparable written proof (e.g. verifiable overlap with a compulsory event scheduled at short notice). For last-minute cancellations of registration, please use the following form. Please note that medical certificates can only be accepted if a prior written cancellation has been made.
All ZKK seminars and courses start at the exact time listed. Therefore, please arrive at the seminar room in good time before the start of the seminar. Students who are late can expect that their place in the seminar will be given to somebody on the waiting list. Only previously announced delays for a valid reason will be accommodated.
Students who do not cancel their registration in good time (one-week deadline) or who do not attend a course without an excuse will be given lower priority in the allocation of placesfor the seminars and IT courses offered in the following semester. If you are given a place from the waiting list and do not notice this, you will also be given lower priority in the following semester. This means that you will only be given a place in the following semester if not enough other students have registered for the seminar.
If you do not cancel your registration in good time (within one week) or do not attend a seminar without an excuse, the University of Passau will be forced to take action against such behaviour as permitted by law. The University of Passau will therefore immediately legally examine every case of unexcused absence from a ZKK event and assert and enforce existing claims for damages against students.
We appeal to your collegiality. If you are unable to attend a ZKK event, please cancel your registration immediately. This gives your fellow students the chance to participate and legal consequences can be avoided.
You will receive a certificate of participation in a seminar, and an confirmation of attendance for IT courses. You will usually receive this as a PDF file via a Stud.IP message about a week after the seminar if you have attended in full, actively participated and completed all the required assessments.
Certificates are generally not issued for seminars and courses lasting less than four hours.
If your degree programme allows you to choose freely selectable ZKK seminars, you must submityour certificate of participationto the Examinations Office yourself. The Examinations Office will then enter the ECTS credits for you in HISQIS.
If you are a student of the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics and have earned a grade in one of the creditable seminars and courses, the ZKK will inform the Examinations Office of the assessment and the grade.
Please refer to your study and examination regulations or our website to find out whether you can receive credit for ZKK seminars in your degree programme. The number of ECTS credits that can be credited can be found in the detailed descriptions of the seminars and courses in Stud.IP.
At the end of your studies, you can apply for a comprehensive certificate (KompetenzPAss), which summarises all the seminars and IT courses you have attended. The prerequisite for this is participation in at least one seminar from all three areas of expertise. If you do not fulfil this requirement, we can issue you with a confirmation of the seminars and IT courses you have attended.
