As part of the further development of the Passau Young Researchers Excellence Centre (PYREC) into an excellence programme for interdisciplinary networking and research, small groups of exceptionally high-performing and innovative young researchers (PYREC Fellows) will be identified and intensively supported and challenged in their competence development in annual cohorts for one year each starting in the summer semester 2024.
The PYREC activities are based on an annual theme defined by the PYREC Fellows and become visible in the context of events organized mainly by the PYREC Fellows themselves with top representatives from science, business, society, politics, media, art and culture. In addition to discussion forums for current social challenges, collaborative spaces are opened up for the interdisciplinary development and processing of contemporary research questions.
The PYREC programme is a funding instrument for outstanding doctoral candidates, postdoctoral researchers and habilitation candidates at the University of Passau, which can be completed parallel to and in addition to a doctorate or habilitation. It is not a structured doctoral programme.
The PYREC Excellence Programme offers young scientists the idealistic, organisational and financial framework to proactively shape their own scientific career. In addition to the continuous development of professional skills, soft skills, ethics-orientated leadership and respectful interaction with one another are also becoming increasingly important.
The aim of the PYREC Excellence Programme is to promote and support young scientists.
PYREC Fellows receive additional funding to independently organise their own events (workshop funding). After successfully completing the programme, the Advanced Fellows also have access to an exclusive budget for travel expenses.
