Elegibility for the PYREC excellence programme
Outstanding early career researchers at the University of Passau can apply for the PYREC Excellence Programme, provided that:
- They have been accepted for a doctorate or habilitation at the University of Passau,
- they are employed as a postdoc at the University of Passau, or
- have an affiliate status.
In addition, applicants should prove that they have at least a B2 level of English, as the programme of events of the PYREC Excellence Programme is to be implemented in English wherever possible in order to enable outstanding international early career researchers to access the programme.
Acceptance as a PYREC Fellow can be achieved by
- Proposal by a member of the Research Advisory Board (or equivalent body)
- Unsolicited application

- Academic curriculum vitae
- Letter of motivation of max. 3 pages, whichv should address in particular:
- What motivates you to participate in our programme?
- What expectations do you have of the programme?
- What do you want to achieve as a PYREC Fellow?
- Why should we select you for the programme?
- In particular, please elaborate on ideas for your contribution to an active planning of the programme:
- What annual themes would you suggest?
- Who should be invited as lecturers?
- Which excursions would be useful?
- What is the interdisciplinary added value of your programme proposal?
What other documents do you need to upload as a PDF file:
- diploma(s)
- acceptance letter for doctorate/ habilitation or employment contract of the University of Passau (Post-docs)
- certificate of doctorate, if available
What other documents can you add to your application to confirm your outstanding scientific qualifications?
- Research exposé
- Letter of recommendation from your supervisor or the holder of the chair or professorship at which you are employed.
Please also let us know in your application whether the Gender Equality Officer or Staff Disabilities Officer of the University of Passau should be involved in the selection process!
