Marc Stier
Marc Stier is currently pursuing a master’s in Development Studies at the University of Passau, Germany. He supports the Bioeconomy Economics research group led by Dr. Terese Venus. The work he currently assists focuses on investigating the impact of biogas policies on crop diversity and agri-environmental payments, contributing to innovative solutions in sustainable agricultural practices.
Previously, Marc gained valuable experience as an intern with the NGO Solidaridad Perú, where he supported projects aimed at sustainable agricultural supply chains, palm oil certification, and labor rights. His work demonstrated a commitment to fostering environmentally and socially responsible practices in agriculture. Additionally, during his internship at the GIZ, he contributed to climate and digitalization portfolios across Asia, the Pacific, Latin America, and the Caribbean, gaining valuable insights into international cooperation.
His academic foundation includes a bachelor’s degree in politics and administrative science from the University of Konstanz, where his thesis explored socio-economic factors influencing certification decisions among smallholder palm oil farmers in Peru. His international exposure, including an Erasmus semester at the Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona, has enriched his interdisciplinary perspective.
With expertise in research, policy analysis, and sustainable development, Marc aspires to drive impactful projects at the intersection of governance, environmental sustainability, and socio-economic equity.
