Gender Aspects in the Research of the University of Passau
Project Description GiP
The systematic integration of gender dimensions in research processes helps to advance the excellent orientation of research and to improve the quality of life of all people. With the project "Gender Aspects in the Research of the University of Passau", the University of Passau is participating in this project under the leadership of the University Women's Representative. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is funding the structural project in the concept phase through the guideline for the promotion of structures for the systematic consideration of gender-related aspects in research questions ("Geschlechteraspekte im Blick").
"Scientific findings are constantly contributing to improving people's quality of life and increasing their life expectancy. Excellent research, development and innovation must therefore be oriented towards the benefits for all people, regardless of gender, age or other aspects of diversity. Research results should flow into the development of needs-based and personalised technologies, products and services faster than before.“[1]
At the University of Passau, individual researchers are already pursuing research perspectives that take gender dimensions into account. So far, structures and processes to anchor them have not yet been systematically integrated. The project "Gender Aspects in the Research of the University of Passau" responds to this desideratum. In the conceptual phase, corresponding research activities at the University of Passau are first recorded and documented by means of an inventory, followed by a situation and deficit analysis, which reveals strengths and weaknesses. On this basis, an organisational and management concept will be developed. The aim of the project is to establish a gender-sensitive research culture at the University of Passau. Emphasis is placed on anchoring structures and processes that accompany and promote a needs-based and gender-sensitive development of research approaches.
