IFPRI
International Food and Policy Research Institute (IFPRI)
The International Food and Policy Research Institute is part of the international agricultural centres with a UN mandate. Whereas the IFPRI headquarter is located in Washington D.C., USA, a branch office in New Delhi, India, offers policy advice in the area of agricultural development.
IFPRI’s mandate to disseminate scientific outcomes directly into policy advice is relevant for BioDIVA in two aspects: the economic debate on quantification and valuation biodiversity on one hand and the reformulation of research results into policy recommendations on the other. The associated processes in themselves provide central knowledge for transformation processes.
BioDIVa aims at conducting policy dialogue workshops in India with three objectives in mind: 1. understanding the political structure with emphasis on the limitations and possibilities of advocacy coalitions. 2. Evaluate intermediate data as part of iterative processes to plan for the next research phase. 3. Reflect the learning process related to the transformation of academic knowledge into advanced research and policy advice.
