Scientific Board Meeting

The BioDIVA board meeting served to reflect on the achievements of almost 3 years of project duration and to draw strategic recommendations for the remaining year.The BioDIVA team presented the current progress to the BioDIVA board members, who issued advice on matters of research, synthesis and cooperation.
Status Seminar in Berlin
April 16th-17th, 2012
Twelve junior research groups under the social-ecological research programme (SÖF/ FONA) of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) came together with members of the funding agencies in a two day seminar to discuss key findings, elaborate ways to shape social ecological changes and implications for research. The researchers of BioDIVA presented the first results fresh from the field.
The economics tandem of Monish Jose and Girigan Gopi, togther with Martina Padmanabhan presented the paper "Adapting to changing institutions: Livelihood strategies and land use of farmers" in the session "Gestaltungspotenziale in der Landwirtschaft" (potentials for shaping agricultural production).
In the session on the effects of long-term social ecological change (Wirkungen von langfristigem sozial-ökologischen Wandel) Lydia Betz and Isabelle Kunze presented a study on the resilience potential of indegenous communities in Wayanad "Sind indigene Bevölkerungsgruppen resilient gegen Transformationsprozesse? Eine sozial-ökologische Studie in Indien" co-authored with Prajeesh Parameswaran and Suma Tamaracheryil Ramachandran from the MSSRF.
DGH Symposium 2012: Transdisziplinarität für Nachhaltigkeit - Erfordernis und Herausforderung

BioDIVA contributed to the annual conference of the German Association of Human Ecology (DGH) titled Transdisziplinarität für Nachhaltigkeit - Erfordernis und Herausforderung (Transdisciplinarity for Sustainability - Necessity and Challenge).
The conference took place May 10th-12th, 2012 in Sommerhausen near Würzburg, Germany.
