This applies equally to students, staff and visitors, and is indicated by the “No dogs” stickers affixed at all building entrances.
The ban is in place to help ensure a clean, hygienic and distraction-free working and learning environment for everyone and to avoid the increased cleaning that would be required due to animal hair, paw prints and other traces left by animals; it is also intended to protect people with animal allergies or those who have a fear of animals.
Exceptions are made for assistance dogs, such as guide dogs for the blind or mobility assistance dogs for people with disabilities. If you have a certificate in accordance with the Behindertengleichstellungsgesetz (act on equal opportunities of persons with disabilities, BGG) or the assistance dog ordinance (AHundV), please contact the Buildings and Estates Service Office [German content] to register your assistance dog and obtain a written authorisation. You must carry this authorisation with you whenever you are in a university building with your assistance dog.
